This page explains the general copyright and image licensing principles applicable to photographs created by Victor Herrera and Victor Herrera Photographers.
Our goal is to make image usage permissions clear for wedding couples, families, wedding planners, hotels, publications, creative agencies and other organizations.

01 / Copyright & Ownership
Copyright belongs to the creator unless otherwise agreed.
Original photographs created by Victor Herrera are protected by applicable copyright laws, including Mexican copyright legislation and relevant international agreements.
Unless a written agreement establishes otherwise, Victor Herrera retains the copyright and applicable intellectual property rights in photographs he creates.
Copyright ownership and permission to use a photograph are separate matters.
Receiving a digital photograph, viewing it online or downloading an image does not, by itself, transfer copyright ownership or grant unrestricted permission to reproduce, modify, distribute or commercially exploit it.

Your memories are meant to be enjoyed.
Wedding photographs belong in the lives and memories of the people who experienced those moments.
Couples and clients may receive permission to download, share, print and display their photographs for personal, non-commercial purposes.
The specific scope of those permissions is determined by the photography agreement, delivery terms or written license applicable to each client.
Personal uses may include sharing wedding memories with friends and family, displaying photographs at home, creating personal albums and posting photographs on personal social media accounts, when permitted by the applicable agreement.
Personal-use permission does not automatically authorize advertising, resale, stock photography distribution, promotional campaigns or other commercial uses.

Commercial Photography Licensing
Hotels, resorts, wedding planners, event designers, florists, travel agencies, publications and other businesses must obtain appropriate permission before using copyrighted photographs for commercial purposes, unless an existing written agreement authorizes the intended use.

Vendors & Planners
Wedding planners, decorators, florists and other vendors should request authorization before using photographs in advertising, websites, promotional materials or commercial social media campaigns.

Commercial advertising, brand campaigns, sponsored content, product promotion and image redistribution require appropriate authorization and licensing.

Meaningful wedding stories deserve thoughtful editorial presentation.
Wedding magazines, editorial websites, newspapers, blogs and other publications interested in featuring photographs created by Victor Herrera Photographers are welcome to request publication permission.
Editorial permission is evaluated according to the publication, intended context, image selection, distribution and applicable rights.
Permission may be granted subject to specific conditions, including image attribution, approved usage, publication scope and other applicable requirements.
Editorial permission does not automatically authorize the use of photographs in advertisements, sponsored campaigns or unrelated commercial promotions.
Publications must also respect the privacy and image rights of the people appearing in the photographs.

When image use has been authorized, the following credit is preferred unless a different attribution has been agreed upon in writing.

Licensing Conditions
Every license is specific to its intended use.
